Applicable subjects
Vietnamese people residing abroad (Overseas Vietnamese) can apply for ID CARD if:
- Have acquired Vietnamese nationality or have documents proving Vietnamese nationality origin.
- Completed procedures for permanent or temporary residence registration in Vietnam.

Necessary conditions
To be granted a ID CARD, overseas Vietnamese must meet the following conditions:
- 14 years of age or older.
- Not subject to deprivation of citizenship under Vietnamese law.
- Have full documents proving Vietnamese nationality or have acquired Vietnamese nationality.

Documents to prepare
When registering for ID CARD, overseas Vietnamese need to prepare the following documents:
- Vietnamese passport or documents proving Vietnamese nationality (if any).
- Vietnamese birth certificate or documents proving Vietnamese nationality.
- Household registration book or certificate of local residence information.
- Application for ID CARD according to the form (provided at the police agency).
- 4×6 cm ID photo (white background, dark shirt).
